S.A.D. 10: Another Gun Girl

Another piece that sprung from my mental meanderings, after listening to "Foley Room" by Amon Tobin.

Readers and subscribers, what are you guys listening to, these days?

Awesome! Thanks for sharing your recent playlist, Nando. And thanks for the kind words on the sketches. Honestly, this is so much fun, I'm hoping it just turns into a lifetime habit. Fuck the year-end expiration!

Stay tuned, mang!

Keep them sketches comin' Dave!

As far as what I'm listening to these days, Jim hooked me up with come Clutchy Hopkins stuff and a John Robinson that are super badass!

I'm also really into musical scores lately. 'The Dark Knight' and '300' have some great stuff throughout.

Lots of NIN... I can never get enough of Trent Reznor's aggressive sound textures. Also a healthy mix of Portishead, Tricky, and Massive Attack in there for flavor. And, on the complete other side of the spectrum, Jose Gonzalez. I've always had a special place in my heart and my ears for guitar based folk music.

Great pieces today too by the way. How do you get those white hatch marks in your ink pieces? White out pen? Scratch tool?

Took a long walk today under the LA rain to a used record store where I found a vinyl copy of "Elvis Today" (70s Elvis is a guiltless pleasure of mine--see Sketch #21) and a used CD copy of the Neon Neon album (the new retro-80s concept album about Jon DeLorean). Listening to Elvis right now, saving Neon Neon for later tonight after BSG.

Sweetness! Good to hear what everyone is listening to/playing while they work, hang out, and generally do their thang.

Thom, the white marks on these two pieces are done with a brush and white ink. Boom!
