Vancouver Comicon Weekend!

Yours truly will be a special guest at this weekend's Vancouver Comic Con

We're kicking off the festivities Saturday night, with a Live Art Funk Jam featuring myself, Jim Mahfood, Troy Nixey & Tyler Jenkins painting to the sounds of DJ Mykro Douglas. Then, the convention is on Sunday, from 11am to 5pm at the Heritage Hall.

I'll be bringing an assortment of art prints, including selections from Alphabet Attack! Series 1 & 2. I'll also have 18 x 24" giclee prints of my Danger Mouse illustration, as well as my DOOMBOX and LIONSEATYOU limited edition sketchbooks.

And to top things off, I'll have copies of my Image Comics anthology, Slop: Analecta on hand. To celebrate restocking my inventory of this book, I'm customizing each one with an original drawing on the first page. So come get these hot tamales while they're... well, HOT!

I was last in lovely Vancouver back in 2011 for this same convention, and it was an absolute blast. So I'm stoked to return for another weekend of British Columbia-style hijinks!

For more info, visit www.vancouvercomiccon.com.

Hope to see you there!

Long Beach Comic Expo Commissions

The above are commissioned drawings I made for collectors, during the Long Beach Comic Expo. Thanks to everyone who came out to support & show love. And many thanks to Mike, Martha, Ian and the rest of the organizers & volunteers who helped make it such a memorable, successful whirlwind of a convention. I had an absolute blast!

DOOM BOX & Danger Mouse Prints at The Long Beach Comic Expo!

I'm proud to announce that I'll be a guest at the Long Beach Comic Expo, this Saturday in Long Beach, CA. Yes, the land that brought you Snoop Dogg, gin & juice is also a hot spot for comic books, art & nerd culture!

I'll be set up at Artists Alley table #6003, next to the rascally Jim Mahfood, aka Food One! Along with creating commissioned sketches right on the spot, I'm going to have several limited edition items on hand. That includes the remaining stock of my latest sketchbook/zine, DOOM BOX, which collects drawings, sketches & a 3-page comic short from the past two years.

I'll also have a small batch of 18x24" giclee prints of my Danger Mouse piece, "You Can't Hide Forever." These prints are the real deal, made with archival ink on 310gsm textured paper. And each giclee comes with a signed certificate of authenticity, complete with a sketch of Danger Mouse!

This is a one-day convention, being held at the Long Beach Convention Center. Check out the highlighted floor map below, to see where Jim & I will be set up. For tickets and other details, visit www.longbeachcomiccon.com.

C2E2 Convention Sketch Pre-Orders

With the Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) right around the corner, I’m now accepting pre-orders for convention sketches. Ordering your sketch ahead of time eliminates the worry of getting stuck at the end of my commissions list, or missing out on getting a sketch, altogether, simply because you’re only attending the show for one day, leaving early, etc....
I’ll be accepting sketch pre-orders up until Tuesday, April 23rd. Sketches are available in black & white or color, as well as in two sizes: 9x12” and 11x14”.
Your finished artwork will be ready for pick-up at the Nerd City booth (#967) in “The Block,” for the duration of C2E2. You can schedule a convenient time to drop by the booth for your art, via email. Contact me at hiredmeat@gmail.com for pricing info, order placement, questions, and all that jazz. Serious inquiries only, please. “If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in!”

SPX Wrap-Up & Sketches

Many, many thanks to all the wonderful people who helped make the Small Press Expo 2012 such a fantastic experience! It was my first time doing the show, so I really appreciate all the fans who came out to show support. And a special shout-out to my delightful friend & colleague, Danielle Corsetto (www.girlswithslingshots.com), for hosting me at her table.

You can see my sketches from the convention below. Also, Sara Moline of Metro Business Media did a great write-up on SPX 2012 that includes an opinionated tidbit from yours truly. Read the aricle here: "Comic Collectors Rejoice at Bethesda's Annual Small Press Expo."

Small Press Expo 2012!

Surprise, surprise! I'm actually doing another comic convention, this year. That's right, kiddies... I'm rocking the Small Press Expo (SPX) this weekend, in Bethesda, Maryland. I've always wanted to participate in this show, since before I was a professional artist. So I'm especially stoked that circumstances aligned for me to attend.

I'll be setting up at booth W12, alongside Danielle Corsetto, the lovely & illustrious storyteller behind the hit webcomic, Girls With Slingshots. I'm bringing a plethora of con-exclusive prints, as well as a special SPX Edition reprinting of my LIONSEATYOU sketchbook. And, as an added treat for my early-bird customers, I'll have a small cache of 11 x 17 posters for the Disney XD/Titmouse, Inc show I work on: Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja (premiering Monday, Sept 17)!

So if you're hitting the show this weekend, be sure to swing by our spot for all sorts of amazing art, comics and freaky-flavored fun! See the SPX 2012 floor plan below, so you know where to find us. Visit www.spxpo.com for further convention details.

C2E2 2012 This Weekend!

If you're planning on hitting the Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo 2012 (C2E2), this weekend, you can plan on seeing me there! I'll be a special guest of the extraordinary gentlemen from Nerd City (booth #842), all weekend.

I'm going to be rocking live painting & commissioned sketches in the booth, so you'll be able to see me create this crazy magic of mine, live and in person.

I'll also have a selection of convention exclusive prints, featuring seventeen fan-art favorites that I've created over the past two years. These pieces will include selections from Alphabet Attack! Series 1 & 2. You'll only be able to score these from me during C2E2, so don't miss this rare opportunity to own a print!

And there will be plenty happening, beyond the convention floor. Ignite your convention weekend fuse, Friday night, with The Nerd City Monster's Ball at Reggie's Rock Club. It's sure to be a whisky-soaked after party, complete with DJ's, live bands and down & dirty fun! The gang & I will also be bringing the thunder with a Saturday evening panel, "Booze, Idiocy & Dumb Luck: Nerd City's Guide to Becoming a Media Super Star." Come sit in and learn everything you've ever wanted to know about making it in showbiz, life, and geek love!

So between the convention and the plethora of after-hours events going on, this is going to be an action-packed weekend of comics & entertainment culture. Hope to see you there!

Vancouver Debrief!

At last, here are photos of the art I created while I was in Vancouver, a few weeks ago. These works include three large live art paintings I whipped up alongside Jim Mahfood & Troy Nixey at the Hennessy Lounge, plus some color drawings I rocked for the friendly crowd during Vancouver Comic-Con.

The live art pieces above were created under the smooth influence of Hennessy & ginger ale, with random shots of Patron thrown in for good measure. I also managed to paint all three of these while simultaneously dancing my proverbial ass off. DJ Mykro Douglas absolutely crushed it, that night!

To top it all off, I had an unbelievable view of downtown Vancouver, the bay and points beyond, all from my hotel balcony. I couldn't help but nab a few snapshots!

Food One and I had a fabulous time. The people of British Columbia were very, VERY good to us. I was totally blown away by my very first visit to Vancouver. Many thanks to the fans and friends who came out to show support. And a huge dollop of gratitude to Leonard, Andrew, Troy and everyone else who conspired to make the Live Art Funk Jam and Vancouver Comic Con such a wonderful success!

"Ya just can't stop! Got ta party on!"
