Dalek In Progress

These are some progress photos of a new rendition of fan-favorite, DALEK! He's up to his old exterminating ways. Oh, Dalek. So hateful... so lovable.

Just a tiny taste of the stack of drawings I'm catching up on. Whew!

Scud, Catwoman & Jonah Hex Round Out This Week's "...Attack!"

It's been another fantastic week of splatters and sharp lines at my daily art blog. Along with Destro & The Baroness and Daredevil, I also got to illustrate the sensually criminal Catwoman, the hideous Jonah Hex, and (a personal fave) Scud!

"Spring" Drawing

Just finished tweaking the first drawing for a set of prints I'm creating, this year. I've wanted to do a print series for awhile now, similar to how I did my sketchbook series back in 2010 (Deathwarrant, Jarface & Lionseatyou). Well a few weeks ago, I finally decided to go with the theme of The Seasons. So above is the line drawing for "Spring."

I'll be running a little presale on 11 x 17" prints of this, once it's colorized. So keep an eye on the blog next week, for all the details! Come to think of it, I'll be making a couple more hot announcements, this coming week. I've been working on so many hush-hush projects, it'll be nice to start sharing!

Auris Infinitum Cover

This is the cover art for a new one-shot comic story I'm working on, called Auris Infinitum. So far, working on this has been a blast. Especially since this is my first full creator-owned comic project in a long while.

For better or worse, it's grown into something larger than the simple mini-comic I'd originally planned on. Still, I'm embracing it and pushing on. After all, I'm having a blast with the story. It's got everything I like in my surreal fiction -- a flawed and horny hero, a devious and equally horny young lady, and a fiendish old man.

The Attack Is Back!

In case you didn't notice, I've launched into Alphabet Attack! Series 2. This time around, I'm creating daily illustrations based on comic book characters. Of course, I'll be rocking drawings of the spandex super-humans I grew up with. But I'm also paying homage to the weirdo, indie creations that have inspired me over the years. Either way you cut it, the formula equals F-U-N for fans of all shapes and sizes.

Drawing In Zee Werks

Above are some progress shots of one of this weekend's drawings. This started off as a warm-up sketch. But once the ink started flying, I had to make it a full-on piece. The image I had in mind was larger than the paper I'd started on. But once I taped on that additional sheet, there was no turning back.

Odd Jobs

"Well, I guess you need this more than I do."

"Don't worry! I hear it gets better the second year!"

One of the random, reoccurring gigs I have is illustrating an editorial cartoon for an education industry magazine. It's an internal publication, so these little diddys are only seen by teachers and other school system professionals. I just finished the April edition yesterday, and thought, "What the hell. I should post some of these on my blog."

It's almost bizarre to look at these, once they're done. Compared to my current work, these one-panel strips are the final vestige of my older, controlled, more mainstream way of illustrating. Looking at the works from Alphabet Attack! and the comic pages I'm drawing, it sometimes baffles me that I can still pull this style out on a monthly basis. Oh well, here's to versatility! *Sips from cup of coffee and bourbon... mostly bourbon.*

Alphabet Attack! Wrap-up and Reboot!

Be sure to check out Alphabet Attack! to see how Yoda and Morpheus concluded Series 1 of my ongoing daily art blog. I've also made a list of the sci-fi illustrations that are still available, for any interested collectors out there.

Visit for all that and more!

I'm taking a day or two off to collect myself. But I'll be leaping into Series 2 in no time. Woot!

"Wounds" Drawing for Japan Relief

I've been wanting to do this for a while, and finally made the time today. I'm offering the above drawing for sale, with all the proceeds going towards the monstrous relief effort in Japan. Needless to say, what's happening there right now effects the entire world. I thought this would be a nifty way to chip in, and help them on their way to recovery.

I originally thought of going with a samurai-themed piece, since I'm researching and sketching lots of samurai imagery for an upcoming project. Then, I noticed my pals Skottie Young and Scott Morse did a similar fundraiser on their blog AND illustrated a samurai theme. Well, that was about all my inspiration gland could take. I spun around my desk like Taz, broke out the paint and pens and whipped-up this piece -- "Wounds."

9 x 12 / watercolor & ink on recycled bristol board
100% of the proceeds from this sale go to the Japan Center For International Exchange (JCIE/USA)
. Update: SOLD!

Battlestar Galactica & Escape From New York

"Virtual Vixen" and "Unbeatable Underdog" are two of the latest posts in my Alphabet Attack! They're based on Battlestar Galactica and Escape From New York, respectively. Check 'em out!

And be sure to keep an eye on this week, as we grind toward the end of my first run of the series. Oh yeah!

Commission Crackdown

As much as I love this art powerhouse I'm running, It looks like I'll need to shut down one of my generators before it blows the whole operation. In the past year, I've been fortunate to have a lot of art collectors contact me for commissioned work. But now I've found myself with a considerable back-log of pieces I need to create.

While I appreciate everyone's patience in waiting for their drawing or painting, I need to tackle this windmill before it reaches epic proportions. With that said, I won't be accepting new commissions for the next week or two. Between the list of requests I've already got going, the new comic I'm making and other goodies I'm preparing for Wizard World Anaheim and TCAF, my plate is full. I'm talking Thanksgiving-plus-Christmas-plus-Seder full!

The downside: you'll have to wait a little bit longer to hit me up for that awesome Galactus drawing you've been saving up for. The upside: I'll be posting all the commissioned work I'm catching up on, right here on the blog! So this week, look forward to lots of strange new imagery. From Pulp Fiction to Star Wars to The Sandman, I'm about to knock out some serious bangers.
