Silkscreened Posters for Sale!

So I was digging through the Hiredmeat Archives, and I unearthed a hidden cache of silk-screened concert posters I did way back at the start of my career! I was creating this poster art before anyone at Image or IDW Publishing ever knew who I was. These prints were actually a big part of how I got folks attention at conventions, before I had any books out. I'm pretty sure having these on-hand is what got me my earliest comic jobs, which ended up becoming the roots of my now illustrious career! Thanks, posters!

And in honor of all they've done for me, I refuse to let my remaining stock of posters just rot away in dry storage. I'd like to find these guys & gals homes, be they with collectors, music-lovers, re-sellers, or whoevers! My stock includes 11 posters in all, with each design available in varying numbers. I'll be posting them here in small batches (*though, you can peep the entire selection on my Gigposters.com page*).

Pricing, dimensions, and general info are listed beneath each poster image. Each print is numbered and signed by myself and the printmaker. Shipping will be calculated on a per-order basis. Please inquire if interested in wholesale prices. If you have any questions, feel free to write them in the comments section of this post, or direct them to dave@hiredmeat.com.

Cure The Music - SF Live Art/Fundraiser this Thursday!

Cure The Music is a charity fundraiser blasting off this Thursday, March 25th, at 111 Minna. And the kind folks organizing the event asked yours truly to come out and rock the live painting action!

Some incredible DJ's and bands will be providing the soundtrack for the evening. Everything I make that night will be sold off, silent auction style. There will also be raffle tickets sold for a variety of prizes, donated by some fine local businesses (including Capcom, Electronic Arts, and Mission: Comics & Art). All proceeds will go to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Word booty!

So come down and get'cha groove on, get'cha drink on, get some original art and get funky for a damn good cause! For more info, peep the Cure The Music blog and their Facebook event page.

DEATHWARRANT, Coming in April

DEATHWARRANT is the first in a series of three limited-edition sketchbooks that I'll be self-publishing in 2010. Above is the pencil drawing for the wraparound cover. The piece is mostly stream of consciousness. I started with a general idea and a VERY rough sketch, then just sat at my desk and let whatever was upstairs come oozing out onto the page. I'm pretty happy with the tripped-out results! It definitely captures the deadly feelings I was considering while working on the piece, while keeping an organic fluidity that I've been injecting into a lot of my recent sketch work.

DEATHWARRANT will premiere at The Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo, on April 16 - 18. Right now, I'm aiming to do a short run of 50 copies, but might adjust that if fan response demands a larger print run. Each copy will contain an original drawing on the inside. And, of course, any remaining copies after the show will be available through the blog as well as my website.

DEATH Documentary!

So my boy, Food One, turned me onto this amazing punk-rock band that predates punk-rock. And looky-looky, there's a documentary about them coming out soon. Dig it!

No Time For Love, Doctor Jones!

Ahoy, ye sea-faring folk! Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I wasn't devoured by a giant whale. And no, I haven't been deported and shipped to a far-off corner of Canada. I've just been swamped with a big freelance project, for the past few weeks. Hence, the recent dry spell in my blog posts.

But now the final art files are uploaded. And, revisions notwithstanding, the job is a wrap.

I'm getting back to work on a few personal projects, this week. I'm starting to get my stuff together for the Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo (C2E2), which is coming up in April. So yeah... there'll be some good eye candy on this digital platter very soon.

Stay tuned....
