Princess Leia ("Rebel Yell")

Whoever said a teenage princess couldn't lead an intergalactic rebellion, obviously never met this whip-smart, bun-coiffed darling of Alderaan. My favorite incarnation of Princess Leia has always been her look on the ice planet of Hoth. I think my appreciation is directly tied into some early crush I developed during my childhood winters in Buffalo, NY. So this is my homage to the baddest babe with a blaster, this side of a Wampa cave.

Also, just a reminder: this piece is available for sale, along with the others in my "SNIKT! POW! BAMF!" series of art based on pop culture action icons. Check out the other works via the links below. Contact me at hiredmeat@gmail.com if you'd like to make a purchase. Serious inquiries only, please.

Ah, this is wonderful work. I've nerd-raged myself out of any real enjoyment of the trilogy, but this really reminds me of what I used to love. And it's just tip-top work.

Thanks for the kind words, Randall. And yeah, for me, this piece was all about tapping into that childhood joy that I felt when I first saw Star Wars. When Darth Vader and Boba Fett scared me, and the AT-ATs were larger than life.

Yeah man - this is wicked-tight :) Though I'm a Brit, I actually spent a lot of my childhood in Williamsville, just outside Buffalo - The people there are truly from a gentler time.

Whoa! I've been to Williamsville before. Small world, huh? Glad to hear that you enjoyed your time in Western New York :)

Perhaps, you could do some in this style similar to the comic from Marvel John Carter A Princess of Mars!
